Thank you brother, I’ll be reading the link that recommended me, but would have to use the translator, if it is something against what is called the continental federalism or the three forms of unity, a brother says that is different from federalism wetsminter. This is the blog brother.

No, it is not substantially different from Westminster (as far as I understand it). It is just less precise in its statements.

Hello Brandon. I hope you will listen to the latest Reformed Forum podcast that addresses the OPC report on republication. I look forward to your engagement with the analysis provided in the podcast and any supplemental comments you may have on the republication issue. It seems to me the hosts of the podcast were doing rhetorical gymnastics to make sure their views were consistent with Westminster. Thank you very much for all your work on this website.

Hi Dave. I plan on doing an in-depth analysis of the OPC report, Lord willing.

Hi Brandon, What an amazing work you have done with this blog! I am 1689 federalist thanks all the consistent analysis of your blog. Please make videos! Thank you brother… also what do you think of thee “2016 – Republication: Report of the Committee to Study Republication submitted to the 83rd GA” http://opc.org/GA/republication.html
They said that a possible view where the Mosaic covenant is somehow in substance the same as the covenant of works in not consistent with their standards?… I am also concerned with the statements like this in the report “the mandate of the committee is merely one of confessional exegesis”… Confessional exegesis? It sounds to me that before starting this study they had the intention to make their understanding fit into their standards rather than the Bible… what do you think Brandon? Thanks once again!

Hi there. I plan on writing a few posts on the OPC report as time permits. The report is correct that viewing the Mosaic covenant as a covenant of works is contrary to the WCF. Also, we must understand that the purpose of the committee was to determine which views are consistent with the WCF. How Presbyterians deal with controversies like this have greatly frustrated many people for a long time. Many Presbyterians, particularly Klineans lament that often the question of what Scripture teaches is not made the primary focus because of a per-committment to the confession regardless. This has to do with the fact that for Presbyterians, their ordination is tied to their Confession. Thus, rejecting part of the Confession means possibly ending your ministry. This has consequences for their views of subscription, which also affect how they handle these issues. In my opinion, the way that ARBCA was able to deal with controversy was much more profitable because the ecclessiology is different. Because membership in the association was voluntary and was not tied to anyone’s ordination or ministry, men were free to follow their conscience and to disagree and part ways – whereas in a Presbyterian context almost everything must be done to insure unity, regardless of disagreement.

Living Stream Ministries does not list Watchman Nee’s classic book titled “The Normal Christian Life” on their website. I found this peculiar, and in reading it myself found that Nee’s writing here disagrees with many of the current (unbiblical) teachings of Witness Lee and the Living Stream Ministry

Brandon, have you read “Truth or Territory: A Biblical Approach to Spiritual Warfare” by
Jim Osman? It is a book by a dispensational Calvinist (I think) against pseudo-charismatic practices of spiritual warfare, such as rebuking and binding Satan and praying a hedge around an individual. If you have read it or heard about it, what do you think? Or do you know about any other reviews of it? Thanks.

I recently retread your posts re: Les and Tanner. As much as I enjoy the Reformed Pubcast with Les and Tanner, I was extremely disappointed as I listen to Les’s interview with R. Scott Clark on the most recent episode of The Heidelcast podcast. The program was purportedly to discuss Les’s upcoming movie “Calvinist.” Clark couldn’t pass up the chance to inquire of Les’s “conversion” to the paedobaptist view. Les’s explanation of his change of mind demonstrated once again, as you noted in your posts, that he really does not understand 1689 Federalism.

Hello Brandon. I’m a 1689er and a regular reader of your blog. Thank you for putting out so much helpful information on 1689 Federalism. Perhaps you’ve written on this, but I was wondering if you might be able to direct me to some resources on practical issues regarding paedobaptist/credobaptist church relations and questions of membership.
Specifically, the types of questions I’m seeking answers to are:
1. How is it biblical to view paedobaptist churches as true churches if, from our perspective, what they regularly practice and accept as baptism is not really baptism?
2. If we believe that paedobaptism is not really baptism, and we believe the bible teaches that one must be truly baptized to become a member and be admitted to the Lord’s Supper, how can we invite those who were only baptized as infants to take communion with us?
I’m struggling with the matter of consistency, as it seems to be a consistent position to not accept those baptized as infants as members or admit them to the table (due to their not really having been baptized). On the other hand, how can we not accept members of churches that we view to be true churches to the table?
Any helpful resources you might be able to point me to would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there. Glad the material has been helpful.
1. The 2LBCF does not use the language of “true church.” Instead, it says
It then goes on to say
So paedobaptist churches are (at least in modern day) made up of visible saints. However, they also include their children and baptize their children. Thus they are subject to mixture and error. It doesn’t mean they are “no churches of Christ.” It just means their practice is in error. This is sometimes referred to as the esse (being) and the bene esse (well being) of the church.
2. This is an issue that baptists have been split about, including baptists who signed the 2LBCF (as far as I understand). I would recommend studying the Open Communion controversies.

Hi brother, I have the following question
the believers of the old covenant had real forgiveness of sins? or was it just a by-pass until the covenant of grace was legally formalized?

My advice for trying to save anyone is a lot prayer and love. Be there for them beyond just warning them of the theological errors. Know the gospel and trust the Lord to provide you with the words you need at the right time.
